Vice Provost Brian Alldredge awarded the 2021-23 UCSF Edward A. Dickson Emeritus/a Professorship to four UCSF Emeriti/ae professors: Cynthia T. Chin, MD; Gerald Cunha, PhD; Katherine Gundling, MD, FACP and Edward Yelin, PhD. Their two-year terms begin July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2023

Cynthia T. Chin, MD, Professor Emerita, Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging, School of Medicine will continue her work in “Using Artificial Intelligence to Improve Accuracy and Efficiency of Lumbar Spine MRI Interpretation and Reporting”.

Gerald Cunha, PhD, Professor Emeritus, Department of Urology, School of Medicine, will use the award to continue his study of “An Experimental Model of Ovotestis”.

Katherine Gundling, MD, FACP, Clinical Professor Emerita, Department of Medicine, School of Medicine, will work on the next phase of her project “The Health Emergency of Climate Change, Step 2: Building UCSF’s Response in Patient Education and Clinical Care”.

Edward Yelin, PhD, Professor Emeritus, Department of Medicine, Institute for Health Policy Studies, School of Medicine, will continue to develop and support the emerging field of research on “The Health Impacts of Contemporary Employment: Covid-19 and Beyond”.

About the Award
The UCSF Edward A. Dickson Emeritus Professorship Award honors UCSF emeritus/a professors whose outstanding research, scholarly work, teaching, or public service activities have continued since retirement. The highest priority will be to support activities that benefit the campus and for which funding is not available from other sources.

Each award is for a maximum of $10,000 and is made to the Emeritus/a Professor for the upcoming two (2) fiscal years.
